WALT: solve multiplication problems using place value partitioning

There are 8 pencils in a box. AJ has 15 boxes of pencils.How many pencils are all together?15 x 8 = ?10 x 8 = 805 x 8 = 4080 + 40 = 120To solve this problem, I used place value partitioning. I multiplied 10 by 8 and I got 80 as the answer. Then, I multiplied 5 by 8 and I got 40 as the answer. Then I added 80 and 40 and I got 120. So AJ has 120 pencils
