Measurement - building cuboids with cubes

Today, Kaiza, Uirangi, and Kanesha worked as a group to build cuboids using cubes. Then they worked out the volume of the cuboid they made. Here are a few pictures of them working together with materials.

After building the cuboid, the students explained how they found out the volume. This is what they said. We counted the number of cubes that made up the length, width, and height of the cuboid. We got 5 cubes for each of these. So 5 x 5 x 5 = 125. So the volume of the cuboid 125 cubes.

  1. Kia ora room 10 tamariki,

Wow! You guys are awesome :-)
What a wonderful way to learn how to calculate volume by length, width, and height by making your very own cuboids!
